Boyband Blue announced today that they have reformed. Lee Ryan, Duncan James, Antony Costa and Simon Webbe have reunited especially to perform at Capital FM’s Summertime Ball. James, 31, said: “We’re absolutely so ecstatic to be back together. We met up a couple of weeks ago to talk about it and we are so excited. I think we’re going to enjoy it even more the second time round.” The band – whose debut single 'All Rise' reached Number 4 in the UK charts in May 2001 – sold seven million albums and four million singles but split up in 2005 to pursue solo careers. Ryan, 25, told Capital FM this morning: “We never actually broke up. We never said we was broken up officially.” But Webbe interrupted: “We did though. We did say that we was persuing solo careers and stuff.” Costa, 27, said: “We got asked by Capital if we consider getting back together. They called us up and said you were such big supporters of the station back in the day and it would be great if you could get back together for the Summertime Ball. It’s for a good cause and we’re really looking forward to performing.” But the band were tight lipped when asked by Breakfast radio DJs Johnny Vaughn and Lisa Snowden if they would be releasing new material. Webbe, 30, said: “We don’t want to give anything away.” After the band split in 2005 all four went on to release solo albums. James also tried his hand at TV presenting and acting, recently starring in Channel 4 sit-com 'Plus One'. Both Costa and Webbe appeared in ITV reality show 'I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!', while Ryan competed in 'Hell’s Kitchen' in 2007, but quit the show after just three days. James, who has also appeared on reality TV competing in 'Dancing On Ice', starred in West End musical Chicago and it was recently announced he has been signed up to star in the new West End stage show of 'Legally Blonde'. Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson, Akon, The Saturdays and Calvin Harris are the other acts so far revealed to be to playing at the ball at London’s Emirates Stadium on Sunday June 7. Capital FM will be broadcasting live from the venue on the day and the station is making a donation of £100,000 (?111,740) to Help A London Child from the proceeds of the event.
